Katy Abels
Katy Abels is a native of Louisville, MS, where she graduated from Louisville High School. After graduation, she attended Mississippi State University where she was a member of the Famous Maroon Band, Wind Ensemble, and Clarinet Choir. After obtaining her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Mississippi State University in 2008, she began her teaching career in the Kosciusko School District. While teaching in Kosciusko, Mrs. Abels obtained her Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Southern Mississippi. In 2012, Mrs. Abels began her career with the Madison Central Band where she currently coordinates the middle school band program. Mrs. Abels is a member of the American School Band Directors Association, Mississippi Band Directors Association, and East Central Mississippi Band Directors Association, and Mississippi Professional Educators. Mrs. Abels resides in Madison with her husband Joey Abels and their daughter Laura Kathryn.
